Natalie Portman made the red carpet her rose garden.
On Sunday, the actor attended the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, in a bright red skirt suit that made her look like a lovely red rose come to life.
The monochromatic Balmain set, seemingly crafted from rubber or latex, was composed of a boxy cropped jacket with bulbous short sleeves, plus a corseted miniskirt that looked like an upside-down tulip. The top had a round scooped neck and a single, hidden button in the middle, creating a sleek opening that revealed Portman's torso.
Both the mini jacket and the skirt were embellished with large 3-D rosettes molded out of the same waxy synthetic material.

Styled by Kate Young, the May December star wore the rouge look with a pair of strappy satin Jimmy Choo sandals in the same red, as well as metallic-gold oval clutch. She coordinated with gold and diamond jewelry by Nouvel Heritage: small hoop earrings, a gold bangle, and a gold ring.
As usual, Portman kept her beauty look rosy and natural—including her clear, slightly pink manicure—and she wore her hair in a neat low ponytail.
The floral set hails from Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing’s Spring 2024 collection. “It’s clear that it’s the spirit of the rose—the joy, beauty, and love associated with that flower—that’s driving this collection. Because we all could use a whole lot more joy, beauty, and love today,” Rousteing wrote in the show notes. “Love is complex—every rose, after all, comes with its thorns.”
