Rosario Dawson can add a new title to her already-stacked résumé, which includes actress, producer, activist, and fashion designer: grandmother. Yesterday, Page Six reported that Isabella Dawson, Rosario's 21-year-old daughter, is expecting her first child.
“It’s very exciting,” Rosario told the publication, she also shared that the baby is set to arrive in 2024 and that she will be going as “glamma," not grandma. Rosario adopted Isabella in 2014. She was 11 years old at the time.
Rosario spoke about spending time with Isabella during the promotional tour for her film The Haunted Mansion, saying that she loves how laid-back her daughter is.
"I was watching this thing of, the people you go on vacation with are either people who like wanna do a lot of things or just wanna lay and do nothing. My daughter is the lay and do nothing [on the] beach," Rosario told People. "It's all about that! I've made some masterful sand mermaid tails on her. I have to say. You know, lay right there, kid. Just stick your head out. And she's got that beautiful curly hair. She's my mermaid."
Rosario has been open about her experience adopting Isabella, who was in foster care. Rosario mentioned that though it was "different" than carrying a child and "being pregnant," she loved growing closer to Isabella and the actress noted that they have always felt like a family.
“It wasn't even a question; it was clearly meant to be," Rosario told Health in 2021. "I'm grateful for her development, our maturation, and our connection. To have a young person move in with you and to have to really consciously work through triggers and that kind of stuff is a really different thing than being pregnant and having your baby grow up in front of you — to be able to see how we're getting closer and closer. We are a family, and it's beautiful."
